Project Brief:

Mea Culpa Cafe is a Norfolk, VA coffee shop and cafe located in the bottom floor of an early 1900s Victorian style, three-story house with a wrap-around porch that demands respect for its age as the owners have gone through great lengths to maintain its historical integrity.

Concept:

My immediate thought was how unique the house is compared to most coffee shops and decided to incorporate it into the logo as an engraving style illustration to reflect its age and the owners intention of recreating the public discussion environment of some of the earliest coffee shops. The Art Nouveau font went hand-in-hand with the style and the era the house was built in, finishing it off with the jasmine that will soon envelope the front handrail of Mea Culpa's porch.
